I first bought a very cheap version and returned it almost instantly. This it the real deal. It’s made to withstand use and the quality is far superior. My favorite part is the optional ring. Use plenty of silicon to install the ring so that it creates a liquid barrier to protect from spills.***4 Years Later*** I am still as in love with this as the day I got it installed. At first, it was a bit of a novelty, my wife didn't understand the need for it. It was one of the few things that I picked out for our kitchen remodel, so I got a pass. This has really been through the wringer. Constant up and down (physical not emotional), kids playing with it, nearly two years of home school use during the pandemic, and I don't have a single complaint. We needed an island outlet to pass our building code at the last minute. It was easy to install however the silver ring that slips around the base is a real miss. It slides around and gets caught causing the outlet to malfunction during the depression and rise of the unit. We finally ditched the ring. All my friends think this is the best item in my new kitchen remodel!Unfortunately I really wanted this to work for our kitchen remodel but it’s extremely long (which means you lose cabinet space below) and it’s so heavy that it doesn’t really pop up, you actually have to pull it up.Another problem is that the photo shows all regular outlets but then we received one that had plugs for USB-c ports which might make sense for others but since mine was for kitchen I really just wanted regular outlets. Seller said “this is the new model, Amazon description is wrong” and that was it. Once we realized this, we popped it back into the box and send it back. Seller then charged me a $50 “restock” fee even tho we barely took the item out of the box.If you’re having doubts, don’t even bother with this one.
