Follow up: After outlet have been installed for two months I had one issue and could be related too the outlet being Chile proof. On some of the outlet some of the electrical cable prongs are not long enough and will not seat properly were they provide power. I’ve seen that occur one of outlets. And yes I tried t HD e same cable on a likewise outlet. So far, no issues reported.Original Review:Bought the ten pack to replace the outlets in the bedrooms and Island in the kitchen since this is where all stray phones are charged. Installation is straight forward, turn off breaker and for easier identification write the breaker number on the outlet cover. Make this simpler if you ever have to work on the same circuit. Word of caution, the outlet is bigger than the one that don't have a usb plug so they will not fit in a shallow electrical box and if you a box with a lot of cabling. In addition, if one of you socket on the outlet is controlled by a wall switch you either cap the switch line at both end and not use it or find another suitable outlet. Also, if installing in a bedroom the LED light incorporated with the outlet IS DAMN BRIGHT in a dark room, I had to place tape over the LED light because I like sleeping in a dark room and it was so bright I could see everything in the room after turning the light off in the room. The outlet has two screws that are recess to prevent contact with the surrounding wires and if you have an old style metal electrical box, nice feature. Each screw has two slots you can use to insert the wires, if your original outlet has more than two neutral or two lead attach to the existing outlet you are going to have to bundle the wires and have a lead come off the outlet to the bundle. The screws are color coded, shiny is the return line (white wire) the brass one is hot (black or red wire), tighten both screws tight after inserting, including the ground wire which attaches at bottom of the outlet. Organize the wires in the box and screw the outlet in, place the cover, turn on breaker and if you did everything correctly fuse will not trip and the new outlet LED light will come on. Test the USB socket by using one of your devices, Apple for me, they use a higher amperage. After few months of use I will do a follow write.Would give them a 10 if it wasn't for the fact you cant turn off that light. I also have the green light. That is very annoying that it can not be turned off or disabled. So probably the best deal on Amazon for USB outlets but it was difficult to install I ended up drilling an additional hole for the ground so I could use the plug as a jumper for the next outlet. I'm not sure why they decided to only leave one whole when all the others have both I tried looping the ground wire around the outside but the screw was too short and won't let me do that either. Of course you can negate all this and wing nut the two grounds together with a third ground wire coming out that would go into the plug but all this seemed unnecessary when they could have just had an extra hole. Additionally some of the plugs are very stiff for the TR tamper-resistance.so I installed these everywhere around my house. I really only use 2 of them though. those two are where I normally sit to charge my phone. and these are perfect. it frees up the outlet so I can have a lamp, alarm clock, and phone all running on the same outlet without needing to make a mess with a surge protector or other stuff.removed one star as 1 of the plates was defective.I bought two packages of these in December. I returned one set as I overbought in late January after I moved into my new place. The remaining ones I realized are not worth buying.... and I’ll explain here.1. a couple of them basically broke because of the screw that’s on the side came out of the unit. Then there were several that acted like they would work but did not.after they were installed by my electrician and they lit up as indicated by the green light and the USB ports worked. However, come to find out about it the outlets did not work. I’ve had my electrician come back and replace two of them after I was hassled to run an extension cord (as my electrician wasn’t available right away.)Since then he has replaced those two, and now ...I find another one that (I have not use this one particular outlet since I bought them three months ago) isn’t working!Grrrrr!!!!I’m so irritated by this whole thing!I’m writing a review Because I am so irritated. It’s a great concept! it’s a great idea! But this particular product is 50-50 if they are going to work.some may not work, some may look like they’re gonna work, and some do work.so if you go ahead and decide to buy these know that you’re taking your chances.Unless you’re an electrician and don’t mind cheap product cuz you can change it out whenever it doesn’t work. These are thicker than most.... might be tough to fit if there’s a few cables in the box. Only room for one wire under screws. So the wire nuts might make it impossible to properly seat the outlet and keep box full.Great product and easy to install and use.
